Vegan Africa News (VAN) is an independent Pan-African digital media platform reporting on the people, ideas and movements shaping Africa’s relationship with food, animals, health and the environment.
We believe Africa deserves to have its own voice in the global conversation about veganism, plant-based living and sustainable food systems.
VAN covers veganism, plant-based food, animal advocacy, sustainability, climate, health, agriculture, innovation, business, policy, culture and food systems through news, interviews, investigations, documentaries and original storytelling.
Our Mission
Our mission is to inform, amplify African voices and inspire meaningful change.
We tell stories that are often overlooked, from emerging African food innovations and plant-based businesses to animal advocacy campaigns, groundbreaking research, cultural traditions and the people working to build more sustainable communities.
We don’t believe the conversation about veganism and sustainability should be defined solely from outside Africa. Africa has its own traditions, knowledge, challenges, innovations and solutions and those stories deserve to be heard.
